I recently listed and sold an item on eBay (buyer pays shipping).
This is how it went down. See if you can follow this without seeing eBay as the *** that they are.
The item sold for:
eBay charged the seller $26.55 shipping for a total of
eBay then appropriated a commission of 12,55%, of not just the item's sale price but the sale price PLUS eBay's phony shipping price, ebay pockets $9.61 instead of $6.28.to which they were entitled.
($26.55 - $19.01) = $9.61
So the bottom line is this:
eBay screws the buyer charging them $26.55 for a $19.01 asserted cost
The seller get screwed netting only $46.54 for a $50 sale (buyer pays shipping)
While the retail cost of shipping for this item is less than $14 via the exact same carrier.
So eBay netted on this transaction:
76.55-46.54 =30.01 -14 (likely less) shipping = 16.01
= 32% take
When they already could take a risk free, nearly costless 12.55% take.
Who needs to be involved in organized drug trafficking when this kind of theft is legal?
ebay charged me $19
User's recommendation: Don't sell on eBay.
Monetary Loss: $100.
Preferred solution: Let the company propose a solution.
