eBay lies and Sellers heavily pay for it

Advanced ReviewerListed a very nice, perfect condition laptop. I used the "ebay product catalog" which ebay consistently encourages on most listings.
The buyer was happy EXCEPT that the keyboard was not backlit(not available on this model). Lo and behold the "ebay product" catalog was INCORRECT ... { the ebay "product catalog", which I was prompted to use by multiple pop-ups, stated that this model did have a backlit keyboard. The seller started a return (the item was not as described because of an ebay "CATALOG" error).
BEFORE I APPROVED THE RETURN I contacted ebay at 11:54am on 12/31/2016 to be sure that ebay would be crediting my account for their error --- outbound shipping to CA of $23.42 & the return shipping charge of $14.79. The rep. said they would credit me for all shipping charges due to ebay error, but could only do so after the return was completed. Fair enough.
I approved the return, got the item back from buyer( he just threw it in a box with some hope -- miracle it was not damaged ). I contacted ebay to make good on their promise. They said there would be NO crediting of shipping charges since I had approved the return... WHAT ?????
I asked them(Mae) to playback the recorded phone conversation of 12/31... NOPE.. Their "policy" that they steadfastly cower behind is "that ebay does NOT credit shipping charges". So just to recap my wonderful ebay experience.
Let me recap the Ebay joys: 1. I now have a "seller not as described"( snad ) on my otherwise perfect account. 2. I have paid and will NOT be credited(ie.
ebay has stolen) a total of $38.22 ( $23.42 original shipping plus return shipping of $14.79 ). 3. I have a returned item to resell and incur more ebay fees. Any wonder why I DO NOT RECOMMEND SELLING ON EBAY TO OTHERS ?????
EBAY is unconcerned about their original error, unconcerned that their rep. lied to me, and unconcerned about the money they have NOT EARNED, but stolen from me.
Furthermore they are condescending and downright arrogant about it. Small (low sales) sellers are routinely screwed on ebay.
Reason of review: Poor customer service.
Monetary Loss: $40.
Preferred solution: Let the company propose a solution.

I won't sell on ebay again. I been screwed when I used their shipping quotes.
The post office shipment is paid for when you print the shipping label. Unknown to me, the Fed Ex label is just a quote and is not paid for until Fed Ex OK's it after delivery. My original quote was $16.75, the charge was $40.05 and is automatically paid for by Pay Pal with out the seller OKing the charge first. Never again EBAY SUCKS!!
This first time I was screwed by Ebay was by there list & sell 5 items in two weeks for $40 credit, after doing so I received nothing. Both times I was told to pound sand by there complaint dept.
Never again EBAY SUCKS!!
