Is there a phone number that actually goes to a live person so I can try and settle my dispute with them

They are so rude and put the phone down. Don't bother

If you were polite they would not put the phone down.

I can't imagine buying someone else's rotty tennis shoes sight unseen through the mail.

He is right. Ebay will refund payment too quickly before the item arrives.

And if it happens during transit you as a seller are out of the money and the buyer gets it for free. I will never sell on ebay again. If you want to be an unethical buyer, just *** enough to ebay that the item has not arrived and they may refund your money.

Then when the item arrives you get it for free. I am not endorsing that but ebay actions essentially let that occur.

I don't take anything "for free". I would despise an item I had obtained through spurious means.

That's called "ethics" and too many people seem to have forgotten them. Many are still AOK, 100% solid citizens. Usually that's your customer ; you got one bummer and now you're blowing your stack over it.

I'd say you've been lucky up to that point so learn to live with a few minor disappointments ; there are a lot of poorly trained, unethical jerks wandering around loose. I always include "uncollectible debts" with my annual 1040 when appropriate.

You are drastically over reacting.

I do not think he is overreacting. I had a similar situation and ebay caved to the buyer and refunded the item while it was in transit (USPS First Class as ad stated). It has since arrived but buyer has no interest in paying me now that she got it for free thanks to ebay.

The anonymous poster has no idea how ebay operates. They should not have even commented.

That's a dishonest buyer. I have "refunded a refund" more than once in my eBay life.

That's the fair and proper thing to do.

The buyer is currently in a condition of "adverse possession" which is criminal in all 50 states under (most) certain circumstances. That person should be sanctioned by eBay as they undertake whatever collection action is required.

no that's exactly what happened to me
