I'm with you there! I was trying to sell some things that I have in my hand ready to ship. I got an e-mail saying the auction had been canceled because it violated the e-bay policy of copyrights and what-not. I went into the info for this and read through it very thoroughly. It just states that you cannot have any pictures or wording from the manufacturer's website, and goes on to mention about things like the warranty. The BS starts there. I thought it was ridiculous request, but whatever, I obliged. I did use some wording from the manufacturer's website such as weight, height, what was included and the such. I also did use one of their pictures.
After getting the message that is was canceled, I decided to list the item again with my own wording and my own pictures- no big deal....so I thought. I get another message saying the same *** thing! And also telling me that if this continues, my account will be suspended. Obviously, I was concerned, since I am (was) a reputable buyer AND seller on e-bay. I e-mailed ebay to see what the problem was. Their response was nothing but a generic e-mail saying that they don't know what's going on and when a company informs them that a listing is violating any of the above things and request to remove it, they do it, no questions asked.
Not really customer oriented, if you ask me.
So, anyways, I then e-mail the contact that I received from ebay. I explained the situation, stating that I got the first message and obliged, changing my listing to show nothing from them. Their response? Another f'n generic response telling me what the reasons are that they would request to remove the listing- the same stuff that's in the e-mail I received saying it was canceled!
Now, I’m obviously getting pissed. Since nobody wanted to help me and explain exactly what it was I was doing wrong, I decided to relist…with the bare, skin of the teeth minimum. I went through the listing. I went through the policy of the problem. I thought it would be good and there is no reason it should be canceled now – I’m talking about just a few words in the description. One single picture taken on my pool table (showing the green felt), and the company’s name only in the title for obvious search reasons. Wow!! Still a violation!!! Now I’m uber-pissed. I, again email ebay, asking what the *** is going on. I was adamant about how we as sellers and buyers are their customers, and we have the right to know why a listing was removed, or whatever else. THE SAME *** GENERIC RESPONSE!! Only now, my account is suspended, and I had sold some items that I can’t f’n see now to know what to send out and to who!
Give me a break e-bay. I honestly think they need to re-examine who their customers are. It’s not the companies who are constantly on their site removing listings. It’s the sellers who take the time to list items to make a little extra money (while giving e-bay more than its share, no less). It’s the buyers, who come to their site to find good deals and keep coming back to the sellers who are paying e-bay’s bills.
I do understand that they need to comply with federal regulations according to copyright infringement. I, definitely, do not argue that, and am a big supporter of it. I just think they should be obligated to get more information as to why their sellers are being affected by this bs.
I’m done!!
